Collected Searchlights and Other Plays includes twelve plays carefully chosen to provide Grades 10-12 students with a variety of themes and situations to help stimulate their interest and learning. Seven of the plays have been used successfully by students and teachers for many years. Five of the plays appear here for the first time in an anthology. The "Getting Ready to Read" section at the beginning of each play in the student text provides a variety of ideas to invite students into the play. "Checking Your Understanding" and "Working with the Genre and Issues" activities at the end of each play reinforce the students' understanding of the play and extends their learning.

The material in the Teacher's Guide for Collected Searchlights and Other Plays is designed to help the teacher make effective use of the plays in the text and to tie the study of the plays to the new Atlantic Curriculum.
